Healthy Food Week

Under the slogan (My Health from A to Z), Student Affairs Deanship of Student Affairs at Female Students Campus concluded the activities of the Healthy Food Week, which was held at the main lounge and lasted for three days during the period from 26/5 to 28/5/1434 H to inform about the importance of proper nutrition, its impact and how to make it a permanently healthy pattern for our life and to raise health awareness among students.

The Healthy Food Week events included a range of awareness activities that integrated leisure, health education workshops, medical tests, lectures, and competitions. The event’s preparation and implementation was supervised by the “Mentoring with Entertainment Program” and “My Marriage is my life Project Program” that belong to the University Counseling Center. Among the most significant events:

- On the first day

• A cooking contest among female students to prepare the best healthy dish (30 students participated).

• A health educational lecture entitled (Carcinogens Substances in your Kitchen) provided by Dr. Jalila Mohammed Jan Mulla of the Medical Administration.

• A Health Awareness Corner where 83 students’ blood pressure was measured.

 While the second day included:

• A lecture entitled (Encyclopedia of Healthy Food) and a corner to measure the students’ height and weight and where the proper diet was explained. It was carried out by a group of female students from the Department of Clinical Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, and a group of female students of the Department of Food and Nutrition, Faculty of Home Economics.

• A lecture about the Impact of Food on Psychological Health which was prepared by Ms. Asmaa Al-Korbi of the University Counseling Center.

On the third day, the week events were concluded by several activities as following:

• A lecture about (Mouth and Dental Health) as a contribution from the Faculty of Dentistry students in addition to the corner of medical examination on the teeth, where 59 students were examined.

• A valuable participation from the scientific endowment by organizing a workshop and a corner that contains a range of healthy foods and a competition (prepare fruits dishes) that involved 92 students.

• A lecture entitled “Your Intelligence lies in your Diet” provided by Ms. Hana Olgi of the University Counseling Center.This year, the program attracted a good number of students. The audience reached about 833 students over the three days of the program.

It is worth mentioning that the Healthy Food Week was held by the Deanship of Student Affairs at the Female Students Campus within the framework of keeping pace with the specialized international weeks and within the annual plan in order to sensitize students and educate them about the important and influential issues and topics in their lives.
